Savoury cashew nut bread

2017-07-26-14-05-52I took inspiration for this recipe after trying the simple sandwich bread from Erica Kerwien’s book, Cooking for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. It was such an easy recipe to do and made a great Sunday prep food ready for a week of work lunches. When I first put all the ingredients into a bowl, I did not have high hopes. It looked like a Continue reading

Lambs Liver Pate with Blueberry Jelly

2017-07-26-13-54-48

Liver is a nutritional powerhouse. Just like oily fish, it is full of essential fatty acids EHA and DHA which are vital for effective brain function. It also has B vitamins, A vitamins, and Iron. It is teeming with antioxidants, much more than what you can get from the vegetable equivalents, so it really is one of the best “super foods” you can eat. Unfortunately Continue reading

Healing Turmeric Chicken

2017-07-23-16-07-26

This is a great meal to do on a Sunday, the chicken leftovers lasted me for another dinner plus two lunches! It is my new “go to” roast dinner. The turmeric is very soothing and helps to reduce gut inflammation. Adding black pepper when consuming turmeric is said to improve the absorption of the turmeric properties, so don’t miss this ingredient! Continue reading

Orange Nut Crunch

2017-07-23-16-37-21

This recipe is a take on an amazing nut crunch I had at the Grayshott health regime. I make it with all sorts of nuts, below is just one example. Yesterday I added pistachios and some lemon zest. In the future when I have improved my gut health, I would also include a small amount of dried fruit such as dried apricots. I usually have this for breakfast with a coconut yogurt and some defrosted frozen fruit. Continue reading

Cured Salmon

2017-07-23-15-19-45

I had cured salmon at the Grayshott Health Regime and I was amazed with how much flavour it had, even though it hadn’t been exposed to the carcinogenic smoke that smoked salmon relies upon for flavour. It is less slimy than smoked salmon but much more firm than cooked salmon, and is a perfect complement to eggs for breakfast in the morning. When I began researching cured salmon to see what it’s all about however, I really struggled Continue reading

Prosciutto and Pea Fritatta

2017-07-21-18-33-26This is a really simple and quick dinner to rustle up when you are in a hurry. It is also super flexible, you can interchange the greens for anything that is in season, and you can serve with all sorts of sides for a delicious meal you can scale up or down depending on how hungry you are. If you are past the first few weeks of healing your Continue reading

Pea and Mint Dip

2017-07-21-18-31-59I took this to a barbecue when I was just starting off on the gut health regime, not yet confident enough to explain to everyone what this eating regime was all about. Putting a side dish on the table that everyone could share meant I could safely Continue reading
